Overview: School and Community Use of School District Facilities

It is the policy of the Board of Education to encourage the use of Minneapolis Public School buildings and grounds by community residents and organizations. Sharing the physical resources of the District provides meeting, recreational and civic space and builds community. Meeting and recreational spaces are available to groups and organizations that provide programs and services to neighborhoods. Actual costs and staff overtime may be charged for service and when no school personnel are on duty. Community groups are expected to leave the space in the same condition or better than they found it.

Community Education assists groups and organizations in the use and rental of School District facilities. School facilities are available seven days a week, including vacation periods with approval. Facilities are not available when school is in session, or when district programming is taking place.
